During Computer Science Student Success Banquet, the Computer Science Department will recognize Computer Science majors who are participating in the WEEA program, in addition to those who have received scholarships and participated in other activities. You can find more details here.

May 27, 2010 5th Annual Science Research Symposium
The Science Council and the College of Science will present their 5th Annual Science Research Symposium on May 27th. This event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Quad in front of Building 8. It will include 57 posters and 100 presenters and there will be WEEA student participants as well. Apr. 2, 2010 Two WEEA CS Students Receive Boeing Scholarships
Lesia Bilitchenko and Fatemeh Roodbaraki, two WEEA students in the Computer Science department, were each awarded a 2010 Boeing Computer Science Scholarship. Scholarship selection was based on academic achievement, university and community involvement.

Sept. 29, 2009 WEEA Student Receives President's Council Scholarship
Fatemeh Roodbaraki, a WEEA student in the Computer Science department, was honored as a President's Council Scholar. This prestigious scholarship is awarded to 20 undergraduates and 4 graduate students, representing each of the academic colleges, who show academic excellence and a significant contribution to the community over the years. Sept. 24, 2008 WEEA Student Receives President's Council Scholarship
Priscilla Antunez, a WEEA student in the Chemistry department, was honored as a President's Council Scholar. If you are interested in doing summer research, you should try applying to the Research Experience for Undergraduates program, funded by the National Science Foundation.

There will be a pizza get-together on Thursday, March 6, 2008 from 12-1pm in building 4-1-314 (conference room). This will be an opportunity to learn more about the WEEA mentoring program, to get to know other students, to meet and interact with women professionals and your peers in similar programs at Cal Poly. Information about internships, Co-op positions and careers in these fields will be available as well. If you are a College of Science junior or senior (90+ units) and have a GPA of at least 2.50, there is a new scholarship called the Cal Poly Pomona NSF S-STEM Scholarship, with awards up to $4000 and renewable for up to two years. It is based on financial need (you need to have filed a FAFSA), and you must have attended Cal Poly Pomona for at least two quarters. The application deadline is April 7, 2008, no later than 5pm. Awards will be announced in May 2008. Applications can be picked up in the SEES office (Bldg 4, Rm A-609).

The WEEA Program will have its first meeting for 2007-2008. Join us at our ice cream social on Wednesday, November 7th, 3-5pm. It will be in Bldg 8, Rm 48, the Computer Science Conference Room.

Apr. 19, 2007 WEEA Student Accepted in NSF REU Program
Lan Dang, a CS WEEA student, has been accepted to the NSF REU program at Tennessee Tech University in Network & Communication Systems.

Apr. 14, 2007 WEEA Student Accepted in UnCoRe
Shabana Khan, a CS WEEA student, has been accepted to the summer 2007 UnCoRe research program in Oakland University. UnCoRe (Undergraduate Computer Research at Oakland University) is co-funded by the National Science Foundation under REU (ResearchExperience for Undergraduates) program and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Oakland University.
