Oh, and be sure to pay attention to deadlines!
It's annoying, isn't it? With thousands of "content providers" (people putting stuff on web pages) on this web server alone, the chances of a page coming up missing are really rather high. Some tips for finding a missing page are listed on our "File not found" page. The technique we use is to do a web search (Google is our current favorite) for terms that really ought to be on the page. More often than not, it works.
The home page is "prime real estate." It's like living at the beach—there's not much of it, and everyone wants to be there. Unlike the beach, though, we don't sell to the highest bidder. Instead, those decisions are made by the University Web Advisory Committee. When the process is better formalized, we'll put up a link here.
Send us an email (webteam@csupomona.edu). If you want to update a link, be sure to let us know the URL of the page. If it's a new link, it still helps if you let us know where you think it should go (although we may occasionally put it somewhere else for some obscure reason or another).
Please note that we can only update links on the university-level pages. For links on the web pages of divisions, colleges, departments, or other units, please contact the person responsible by using the email address provided on the unit's home page.
If it's www.csupomona.edu, you're probably unable to read this message, but next time it happens, contact the HelpDesk, helpdesk@csupomona.edu, +1 909 869 6776.
There are many other web servers on campus; they all have something other than "www" directly before the ".csupomona.edu", even though they may begin with "www" (an example is http://www.bookstore.csupomona.edu/; even though there is a "www", it's not right before ".csupomona.edu"). Unfortunately, we are not able to fix or even answer questions about those servers, but we do have a list of them, with the email addresses of people who can.
It was a committee decision. (Isn't that the way it always goes?) The Web Redesign Team, consisting of Cal Poly faculty, staff, administrators, and students, along with our consultants at Dreambox Creations, came up with the current design. Its job done, that team was dissolved. The current Web Team finds much to like about the web pages, but also many remaining annoyances. We like it the best when you tell us specifically how you think we can make the web pages more useful.
