Veterans Benefits, Step 3
Step 3: Receiving your educational benefits
Within about one month of receiving your application, the VA will send you a Certificate of Eligibility. Bring this certificate letter to the Registrar’s Office, and our certifying officials will help you comlete the remaining forms needed for quarterly certification.
It is important to know that the certification of your benefits cannot be completed until you have finalized your course registration and tuition and fees have been posted to your account. Register for your courses as early as possible so you do not experience a delay in the receipt of your fees. If your benefits have been certified but are not received by the fee payment deadline, your fee payment will be deferred until the university receives the benefits.

Required verification of enrollment
Veterans receiving benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30, 1606 & 1607) are required to verify their enrollment monthly through Web Automated Verification of Enrollment for Veterans and report any enrollment changes to the Department of Veteran Affairs. WAVE allows you to update your direct deposit information and tells you if your benefits have been processed, and whether your verifications have been entered. Every two weeks, WAVE will remind you if you still need to verify your enrollment.
Applying for financial aid beyond your veteran benefits
If you are interested in applying for financial aid beyond your veterans entitlements, you can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Or for general information regarding financial aid, go to Financial Aid and Scholarships.
