Students: Appointments

Appointments

During finals week and quarter break, we reduce our hours and services due to lower demand, so it is best to call before coming to the Center during those times.

Step 1: Call (909) 869-5343 and make an appointment.

Appointment last 30 minutes and you are allowed to make two per week. Please come on time. If you are more than five minutes late, your appointment may be given to someone else. If you come in without an appointment we may be able to serve you, but we can't guarantee that a tutor will be available.

Step 2: Check in at the front desk.

When you arrive for your appointment, check in at the front desk. The first time you come in, you will be asked to fill out an information form. This information is used for statistical purposes only. For every visit after the first one, you will be asked for your student identification number, your purpose in coming to the center, and the course, if any, for which you are doing the writing. This information will be entered into our computer. You will also be given a tutor evaluation form.

It is important to check in at the desk because if you don't, neither the writing center nor your tutor will get credit for helping you.

Step 3: Bring the assignment and all related materials.

When you meet your tutor, bring the assignment and all related materials. Tell the tutor what you want to work on during the session. You and the tutor will work together on the problems. Do not expect to read a book or work on something else while the tutor corrects your work.

Step 4: Fill out the tutor evaluation form and turn it in at the front desk.

After the session, fill out the tutor evaluation form and turn it in at the front desk. Your honest evaluation helps us make the service as helpful as possible.

Step 5: Stop at the desk and make a follow-up appointment.

You may want to stop at the desk and make a follow-up appointment. Also look at the list of writing workshops being offered to see if any would be useful to you.
