Welcome!

This course first aims to increase your understanding of regeneration so that you will be in a better position to both criticize and defend it, as well as to build your knowledge base for the transition toward sustainable, regenerative communities. To achieve this end, the course is organized into four parts. First, we will examine the challenge of “nature” and John T. Lyle’s presentation of regeneration. Second, we will review the roots to pervasive degenerative practices. Third, we will consider some of the seeds for regenerative thinking. Finally, we will explore some cases of regenerative thinking and practice that goes by other names.

The course has two additional goals. First, we will interrogate and comment on our readings in order to develop your critical skills. Second, we will have a series of written exercises to improve your ability to reason and present your arguments in a convincing fashion.
