During the story Michelle's story is narrated within the main story. The narrator is necessary to getting the story to a reader, or rather the reader. It is given to that reader as an interpretation, or even better a memory that was told to the friend. When they first began speaking Michelle's friend could tell something was desperately locked inside of her. That something was troubling her. He had an insatiable lust for finding out what that was. He eventually did and the reader learned through flashback. Our newest and more interesting device.
