The framing of the story is a story within a story. Huddle does do this to draw is in, to keep our interests. The point of the view of the story never changes. The same person is talking throught the story. The story never gave insight to Michelle's thoughts and feelings. We can infer that she is upset by the way her body language is described, but she never had any emotion in the story.
