Hannah has made me think of the narrator as himself. He must have loved his ex-wife for too long. So long that he pittied himself for not being able to keep the relationship standing. Hannah shaped the narrator as an insane man. However, he does seem to reflect our own individual characters because deep down inside we sometimes, too, think of killing others and doing things that we would never really do because of the invisible chains that tie us to our morals and good standing before society. I am sure, that he would never do anything of the sort. In fact, he never did, but he did allow his emotions to explode and form a volcano with lava in his own mind. I thought it was super creative and a wonderful way to release stress!
