Bring to the exam:
- Scantran Form (50 questions to a side)
MC/TF will be done online as agreed Monday
- #2 pencil for M/C and T/F
- pen – and a backup pen, PLEASE - no pencils for essay
- highlighters for map
Get a good night's sleep, avoid a heavy lunch
All of the essay exam questions will come from these topics. For each question, you "might" be asked for a definition and for one or more "recent international" examples that illustrate the concept.
REMEMBER: Regardless of the question, the purpose of the question is not to have you answer it but rather to give you a vehicle to demonstrate that you understand International Marketing.
Some example questions might be:
- We have spent the first few minutes of each class period discussing international strategies; some of which might succeed and others which we think might fail. Considering the recent strategy of Company "X" in its attempt to accomplish "Y" - will it work, why or why not?
- Your author distinguishes between "international" marketing and "global" marketing. Explain what this difference is.
- We talked about how many factors shape a country's business practices. Provide at least four countries as examples for each of the following: Culture, Geography, and History. For each example, explain how the business practices are different? Why?
- We talked about how a visiting business person would have three choices with respect to deciding which business customs to adopt. Provide at least four countries as examples for each of the following: Imperatives, Adiaphora, and Exclusives. For each example, explain why this is the best choice in each case.
- We talked about four different types of risk that are faced when going into a different country. Provide at least four countries as examples for each of the following: Natural, Business, Monetary, and Political. For each example, explain what the risk is and what might be done about it.
- We talked about four different types of legal systems. Provide at least four countries as examples for each of the following: Islamic, Code, Socialist, and Common Law. For each example, explain the problems that might be faced under each system.

- We talked about the product life cycle. Is there one
global PLC or many regional/local PLC's?

image, package, and so on) and that the relative importance
of each component would vary in different markets. Discuss
how you might make the adaptation decisions necessary in
each market. What are the differences between consumer
and industrial products in terms of international marketing?
