The skeptics were put to shame as the Scouts from Troop 801 successfully constructed a very tall "floating flag pole" at the annual family campout in March 1998. The flagpole is suspended and supported by ropes. The knot at the bottom of the flagpole is a "masthead" knot. This special knot keeps the pole from slipping down.
