S/Sgt. David Rosenkrantz [Note added 6/18/99 - According to Larry Dunlop, This picture was probably not from Holland.] [Reply 6/24/99 received from Benny Overhand in Holland regarding Larry Dunlop's Note - The uniform that Dave is wearing is a REINFORCED M 42 jumpsuit. The reinforced version of this jumpsuit was not in the 504 until they where back in England. The 504 was the only regiment in both airborne divisions that jumped with these uniforms as a whole. The other units used these uniforms in Normandy and when they returned to England they had the replacement uniforms the M43's. Since the 504th wasn't in Normandy they got to keep their M42,s which where reinforced by units of the quartermaster corps in England. So you see that the only place that Dave could have worn that specific type of uniform was Holland and looking at his face and appearance this photo wasn't taken in England on a exercise either.] |
