Cal Poly Pomona employees (faculty, staff, managers, student assistants, and volunteers) that drive on University/State business, both on and off campus, at a frequency of at least once per month are required to complete a Defensive Driver Training Program (DDTP) and re-certify every four (4) years.
The Defensive Driver Training Program (DDTP) is recommended for all employees driving on University/State business. However, the training is mandated for employees who drive on University/State business at a frequency of at least once per month.
The DDTP training requirement applies to the operation of all motorized vehicles. This includes personal vehicles, state vehicles, rental cars, golf-style carts, farm equipment, trucks, carts, and so on.
The DDTP program is a three and one-half hour class that reviews safe driving techniques through video, lecture, test and personal experience. The DDTP program fulfills the State of California driver training requirements.
