Objectives/student outcomes: To be able to:

1. Conduct a needs assessment and job market analysis.
2. Establish and define tasks for an advisory committee.
3. Identify quality indicators for student training programs                               (Masters/competency based, success oriented for all students).
4. Plan curricular programs based on task analysis including training plans       for persons already "on-the job."
5. Develop a career portfolio for a specific occupation or career.
6. Write resumes, letters of introduction, and letters of recommendation.
7. Identify employability skills and personal traits needed for getting and         keeping a job.
8. Develop strategies for training students to work in terms and critique           their own work and that of others.

Meeting 1      Introduction-Interactive video workforce preparation for the                      21st century
                     School-to-Work/School-to-Career legislation needs                                  assessment, competency/skill paradigm

Meeting 2      Job market analysis, advisory committees
                     Employability, quality indicators for training programs,                                transferable skill training

Meeting 3      Task analysis, training program curriculum development,                             in-service training
                      Career portfolios, career analysis
                      SCANS competencies, getting and keeping a job, personal                       traits for workplace success and satisfaction

Meeting 4       Job Search, Resumes, Interviews
                      Alternative assessment, competency/skills certification, self                         and peer assessment Team work, leadership, integrating                             academic knowledge into workplace setting

Meeting 5      Finals week
Requirements:

-Resume, letter of introduction, letter of recommendation (50 pts. each)                                                                                                  150 points
-Task analysis and instructional strategies (including outcomes assessment)                                                                                              150 points
-Mock interview                                                                   100 points
-Job/Career Analysis in Career Portfolio                             200 points
-Rubric and Self Assessment /Teaching Portfolio                 200 points
