CIS 120 Super Easy Web Development
CIS 120 (CRN 71844) is a non-technical, credit/no credit distance learning class designed to empower non-technical students to use the Internet as a communications tool. See Web Development for Non-Techies for more information about the class and examples of what students have done.

CIS 120 will help you learn to develop your own personal web pages and/or pages like those shown in the PowerPoint. The class emphasizes free materials (the logo at the top is from CoolText and the Flash animation below is from Flashiness). The class also shows how to use software that many people already have and other free software for web development, so you can do what you want without spending any money.

The class is credit/no-credit, so there is no risk. I deliberately keep the technology at as low a level as possible so that anyone can easily develop good web pages. Finally, the class is a lot of fun.

There will be one easy assignment every week and the timing will be somewhat flexible. However to get credit for the class, all assignments will need to fulfill the requirements for each one.

You have the freedom to choose your own topics to work with in each assignment. The later assignments build on previous ones, so you can be developing and enhancing your dream web site throughout the quarter.

Enrolled students may be able to log in to Blackboard before the quarter officially starts. Students need to submit a signed course requirements contract (Exercise A) into Blackboard or to rdwestfall@csupomona.edu by Thursday, October 1, 2009 to remain in the class.
