- Introduction to Microcomputing using personal computers and personal
productivity software: Windows environment, word processing,
spreadsheets, and presentations. Problem solving using software
packages adopted by the College of Business Administration. Credit/No
Credit. 4 lectures/problem solving.

- Students will recognize and use the features and functions on a microcomputer with a graphical user interface (GUI) operating system (e.g., Microsoft Windows).
- Students will locate appropriate commands in software menus.
- Students will employ icons and menu commands to achieve desired results with common types of software (e.g., operating system, word processing, etc.)
- Students will solve business and mathematical problems using spreadsheet software.
- Students will analyze data using spreadsheet software (i.e., charting capabilities).
- Students will use presentation software (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint) to create visual presentations.

- Expected Outcomes
- The purpose of this course is to have each student attain a level of expertise in each of the applications so that they may use
those skills in subsequent courses at Cal Poly without the course instructor having to spend time on basic use of the applications.
