I am exploring ways to combine my appreciation for the hospitality industry with my passion for sustainability in order to demonstrate how we can all live more graciously upon the Earth.
I am a 2008 graduate of the Cal Poly College of Business Administration's MBA program, where I was recognized as the outstanding student of my graduating class. I was the first MBA student to complete the hospitality management emphasis and now serve as the program coordinator for the California State University Hospitality Management Education Initiative.
Prior to my arrival at Cal Poly, Pomona, I managed technical publications departments for major software manufacturers and earned an MA in Counseling Psychology. I have also earned certifications in organic farming, massage therapy, hypnotherapy, and Reiki. However, I have loved the hospitality industry since I worked as a busboy in my teens, and especially after starting my first restaurant, a cafe/pub on the UC Santa Cruz campus.
Sluggo's served pizza by the slice, expresso, beer, wine, and sandwiches. It brought enjoyment to countless students and funded many outstanding student activities during its 10-year run as a cooperatively managed enterprise.
I beleive that the hospitality industry can help lead the way to a more sustainable and enjoyable future, and I intend to continue doing all that I can to help bring that future about.
