A list of possible references for journal writes is provided below. These can be found in the reserve section or they are shelved in the reference section. It is uncertain where these books are located while the library is under construction. Some of them may actually be in storage. In the reserve section they are available on 2 hour check out, but if you finish with a reference quickly, perhaps you can turn it back in so that other students could also use it. If you use them in the reserve section, please try to reshelve them exactly in the correct location to avoid loosing them. The internet can also provide a possible reference source. A pretty good web site is ChemFinder (http://chemfinder.cambridgesoft.com/) which will show you a structure, list many variations of names, list physical properties and often links to other useful information, if it is available (like toxicity or MSDS sheets) for many common chemicals. There is lots of misinformation out there in books and the internet so never base your ultimate decision concerning the desirability or undesirability of a substance until you have reviewed a wide range of resources. Many of the references listed below are old and there are very likely more up-to-date resources. This list was made before internet access was available, but it may provide some ideas for your journal write topics.
