Message
from the Chief of Police
On
behalf of our University Police department, welcome to California
State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Cal Poly Pomona places a high
priority on the safety and security of the campus community. University
Police strives to maintain a safe and secure living, learning and
working environment thats allows students, staff and faculty to
thrive.
It
is an exciting time for the department as we are expanding our current
temporary building and the new Parking and Transportation/University
Police building project is underway (target completion 2006). Three
new police officers were hired to increase our sworn police force.
The department was awarded a US Department of Justice grant (one
of only 9 awards nationwide) to implement an expanded Volunteers
in Police Services Program. By increasing our Community Service
Officer (CSO), internship, service-learning and volunteer programs,
we can enhance student development opportunities and expand our
capacity to reduce crime and meet community needs.
The University Police Department is a student-centered organization
with an emphasis on building partnerships to enhance the safety
of our community. While we are firmly dedicated and committed to
achieving our mission, we will continue to rely on all of you, our
community members, to be active partners in maintaining a safe campus.
I hope this website will assist you in getting to know our department
and services, and provide you with information and resources to
enhance your own safety and security. Please take a moment to review
the annual security report
for information on campus security policies and crime statistics.
The information is in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure
of Campus Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. If you should
have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact
me or our staff.
