
Pablo La Roche
Pablo La Roche is Associate Professor of Architecture in the College of Environmental Design and adjunct professor in the Masters of Science program in the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies in Cal Poly Pomona University . He has also taught at the University of Southern California , University of California Los Angeles and Universidad del Zulia. He has an Architecture and Masters of Science in Architecture degree from Universidad del Zulia in Venezuela . With a Fulbright Scholarship from the US Department of State and a Chancellors Scholarship from the University of California he obtained a PhD from the University of California Los Angeles in 2004 under the guidance of Murray Milne and Baruch Givoni. His research interests include passive cooling systems, low energy architecture and sustainable, affordable housing for deprived communities, having published more than seventy papers on these topics in conferences and journals in America , Europe, Asia and Australia . He has been a guest lecturer in Arizona State University , Kyushu University in Japan , North China University of Technology in China , and the Congress of the International Union of Architects in Berlin , Germany . He has also been a technical reviewer for international conferences in India , the USA , Venezuela , Mexico and Brazil including USGBC and ASES conferences. Recently Professor La Roche was the principal author of the sixth book in a series published by the Passive Low Energy Architecture Association PLEA, "Keeping Cool: Guidelines to Avoid Overheating in Buildings" and was selected for the exhibit “New Blood: Next Gen” in the A+D Architecture Museum in Los Angeles , June 1 - September 21, 2006. Mr. La Roche is a registered architect in Venezuela , and an Assoc AIA, and a LEED accredited professional in the USA . His projects with emphasis on sustainability and affordability have been published or received awards in Venezuela , Mexico and Spain .
