Sandra L. Kurtzig

Sandra Kurtzig was born in 1947. She received a Master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Stanford and went to work for GE. While selling computer timeshares for GE Kurtzig encountered a customer who needed a tracking system for inventory, bills of materials, and purchase orders. For the modest fee of $1,200 Kurtzig wrote a software program for the customer. She quickly discovered that other businesses were also very much in need of software to manage their operation. In 1985 with $2,000 as a startup and working out of her own home, Sandra Kurtzig started her own company, ASK, that sold business information systems. ASK would garner over $22 million a year with a staff that number over 200 employees.
