Main Entrance
Walk up the stairs at the main entrance to the terrace of the temple. Notice the LIONS
guarding the entrance. They each have an object under one paw. What are these objects? What do they symbolize?
Standing on the terrace, look out at the main gate with its four pillars.
Find the FOUR GREAT VOWS written on the pillars.
What are the Four Great Vows?
While on the terrace, observe the following:
the architectural style of the buildings: what style are the buildings? What are the figures on the roof for?
the TWO DOOR GUARDIANS. What are their names?
The THREE SYMBOLS OF BUDDHISM, the LOTUS, the WHEEL and the SWASTIKA. Clue: they can be found along the frescos along the lower walls
