SyllabusThe goal of this courses is to examine the interrelationship between identity, power and technological competency. Using perspectives from history, history of technology, sociology, gender and cultural studies, and political theories, students will explore connections between access and mastery of technology with power and changing societal patterns.Students will be required to place technology under scrutiny using perspectives from history, gender studies, social science theories of change, and cultural studies. In this course, the accomplishments and relationship of women in technology will be contextualized against theories of social hierarchies and the corollary distributions of power and economic privileges. |
