Student Performance Criteria

  • Attendance; since all work is team-based and done in-class, only TWO unexcused absences are allowed. An excused absence shall consist of an email or phone call to the instructor informing her of an anticipated absence. A student's grade point shall be lowered for every subsequent unexcused absence beyond the stated two absences.
  • Written, verbal, and electronic responses to the texts, readings, and assignments;
  • Team collaboration and quality of team presentations and projects.
  • Individual and team competency in written assignments as demonstrated in writing assignments, electronic postings and presentations;
  • Individual and group technological competence as measured by ability to use the different software and hardware, quality of presentations, and integration with assignments and projects;
  • Integration of intellectual content and technology as demonstrated by the quality of written assignments computer and multi-media generated projects;
  • Critical acuity as demonstrated by the quality of arguments surrounding the issues of technology, theories of identity and gender.

Grading:

  • Six (6) written reports based on the general categories to be covered in the course (see Course Schedule and Topics for each report 30%
  • Team-developed Lecture-Presentation of Selected Topic for the Week as designated in the Course Schedule 25%
  • Team Developed Invention and Final Presentation based on the invention 30%
  • Participation in Discussions, and Team Collaboration. Includes:
    participation in mid-term and final oral reviews
    contribution to "Technology and Everyday Life Topic of the Week" 15%
