Students completing this course will be expected to have acquired in-depth knowledge about:
the lives of women artists across different historical periods and artististic endeavors
the principle works of women artists from different historical, ethnic and cultural backgrounds
how works and artistic enterprise of women artists have been judged from the standpoint of dominant male aesthetics
how to critically "read" works of art
Course Requirements
Seven Weekly assignments to be done in the computer
lab every week
consisting of assigned analyses of the art works and themes outlined in the Course Schedule

One report based on a visit to an exhibit at a gallery or museum of the student's choice.
One Team Presentation based on a theme from the Course Schedule
One Final Team Presentation based on a topic of the team's choosing

Note: the same criteria will be used for both the first and final presentations.

All cell phones must be turned off and put away during both the lecture discussion sessions of the course AND the lab sessions.
The non-use of cell phone policy will be strictly enforced in both the classroom and computer lab. Each infringement
of this policy will result in one grade point down.
