Education

B.S., 1968; M.S., 1969, UC Davis; Ph.D., 1977, Cornell University

 

Biography:

Dr. Roth received his terminal degree at Cornell University following a period of military service. He took his appointment at Cal State Polytechnic University in 1977 where he has served as professor and advisor to undergraduate students continuously for over 20 years.

- Diagnosis and control of diseases of ornamental plants
- Diagnosis and control of diseases of crop plants
- Ornamental tree care and management
- Urban forestry

- Diseases of ornamental plants
- Disease etiology and control
- Factors affecting ornamental tree health

 

Awards/Recognition/Professional Activity:

Dr. Roth is a member of the American Phytopathological Society, the International Society of Arboriculture and the California Urban Forests council. He is certified as an arborist with the ISA and is licensed as a pest control advisor by the State of California. He serves as a contributor to the California Tree Failure Report Program and actively consults in private practice on tree care and preservation issues.
