New Bronco Direct Services

Apply for graduation online!

The Registrar’s Office is very pleased to introduce the newest BroncoDirect service “Apply for Graduation” for current undergraduate students.  This new functionality replaces the paper-based method of applying for graduation and provides graduating seniors the ability to submit their graduation applications with a click of a button, 24/7.  This technology will be available Monday, June 16 for those who wish to apply for graduation beginning with the summer 2008 term.  Instructions for this online process may be found at the Registrar’s Office website at: http://www.dsa.csupomona.edu/registrar/GradAppInfo.asp

For further information regarding this new process, contact Leslie Corcoran, Enrollment Services Coordinator in the Registrar’s Office (909) 869-2867.

Find open seats

Finding an open seat can be a real challenge for students. A new application from I&IT Web Development is designed to make this task easier.  After logging in with a BroncoName and BroncoPassword, students can specify up to eight different classes to be tracked. When a class becomes open, the application will send an email to the student’s Cal Poly Pomona email address, and can be set to send a notice to an additional email address and/or a text message to one or two cell phone numbers.  A notification log keeps track of the messages that have been sent.  Find Open Seats is available at https://win.webdev.csupomona.edu/openseats/ .  It will be launched on October 29, in its Beta stage.  It can be used by anyone with a BroncoName and BroncoPassword.

Student Career Days is an annual three-day competitive event among students enrolled in horticulture programs from colleges and universities across the country. The students have the chance to compete in events that are directly related to the skills necessary for a career in the green industry. The event also offers a Career Fair which gives the students the opportunity to meet prospective employers in the industry and discuss employment opportunities.

Cal Poly's team of 12 students was advised by Dr. Fred Roth, Dr. Eudell Vis, and Dr. Paul Navlan (Long Beach Community College).  The team returned from the national PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) Student Career Day contest on April 1 with some impressive results. They took 7th overall in a field of more than 50 universities and colleges. In addition, Cal Poly took several individual awards:
