Health of Systems: Application of Non-linear Physics in Biomechanics and Medicine
Hyun Gu Kang
Kinesiology and Health Promotion, Cal Poly Pomona
Aging is associated with the accumulation of deficits in the function of the body, which may lead to various ailments. These deficits have been hypothesized to manifest in lower complexity of physiological dynamics. How do we measure and describe the dynamics of physiological systems that we cannot directly probe or isolate? Non-linear dynamics and statistical mechanics have yielded a multitude of methods at our disposal. The challenge is to know what tools can be used with your system of interest. This talk will focus on questions arising from from the field of biomechanics and aging.
Refreshments at 11:00 AM. Seminar begins at 11:10 AM.
Building 8, Room 241
