1. The file cpsoil.txt is a spectra obtained by
counting for 20 hours with soil from the Cal Poly fields. The soil has a
mass of 1939 grams.
2. The file bk20hr.txt is spectra taken with
no sample for 20 hours. That is, it is a 20 hour collection of background
data.
3. The file cs137.txt is spectra taken with
a cs137 source.
4. The file cal.txt is spectra taken with the
following isotopes: Cs137, Mn54, Na22, and Co60. This file can be used
for calibration of the energy. That is, using these known standards
you can determine the connection between channel number and energy.
5. The file kcl1hr.txt is spectra taken with
potassium cloride as the source. The source has the same source-
geometry as the soil samples. The mass of the KCl sample is 2631 grams.
This file will help you determine the amount of potassium in the soil
samples as well as the efficiency of the detector for a gamma energy
of 1460 KeV.
6. The file jason.txt is spectra obtained by
counting for 20 hours with soil from Jason's backyard. The soil has
a mass of 2909 grams.
