In
my 12 years as president of Cal Poly Pomona, I have always believed
the university should be an active partner in the community. Certainly
it should serve as an educational resource, offering access to learning
as well as lending vital support to schools and districts throughout
the region. But it must also be an interested and involved neighbor
seeking to improve both quality of life and standard of living.
In
this issue of Panorama you'll read about Project Renaissance, a
joint outreach effort by the city of Pomona, the Pomona Unified
School District and Cal Poly Pomona that's making a difference in
the community. You'll also learn of a partnership with the American
Red Cross that will bring an anchor tenant to the university's Innovation
Village technology park and create additional jobs and business
opportunities locally.
I
hope you enjoy this publication. We invite your feedback and welcome
any comments or suggestions you might have for future issues.
