Travel Guide to California
California is a state in the USA that is definitely worth visiting at some point in your life. It is extremely diverse in a number of respects, be it the ethnic diversity of the population or the climate that can range from Mediterranean to Subarctic. It is also where the entertainment industry basically lives, since California is home to Hollywood, a district in Los Angeles where many people who are very important to the movie and entertainment industry live and work. Of course, there is also the beautiful city of San Francisco and the famous Golden Gate Bridge to see. California also has many wine regions to offer, as well as mountains, beautiful valleys, deserts, gorgeous beaches – in fact, there is little that the state of California cannot offer you.
Planning your trip
First, you need to decide what you want to do on your trip – are you interested in art and culture, in adventurous experiences, or just in a bit of relaxing by the beach? It’s all up to you, because California has it all. If you’re into art and culture, why not try the museum of contemporary art in San Diego, or visiting the historical heart of the capital, Old Sacramento? One of the things you must see, whether you’re feeling adventurous or not, are the giant redwood trees, the height and majesty of which you can experience at Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park in Carlotta. If you have kids with you, they’ll thank you if you can muster the patience to take them to Disneyland – it’s quite like a little paradise for children. If you’re a woman in your right mind, you simply must visit Rodeo Drive, and a good thing to bring with you here is a rich boyfriend, because this is one of the most exclusive, celebrated and expensive shopping streets of the entire world. So, either don’t let yourself succumb to temptation (easier said than done!) or make sure you have a loving partner with a huge wallet to take with you. If none is in sight, not to worry, lots of celebrities regularly go to Rodeo Drive, so you might just end up in the news as Robbie William’s new sweetheart the next morning. You could also choose to go skiing or surfing – the possibilities of things to do during your stay are limitless.
Deciding about the details
After you’ve thought about why you want to visit California and what you want to do there, you’ll have to decide where to stay. Choose wisely in this respect; will you want to simply take a tent with you and see where nature and your traveler’s instinct take you? Or would you feel more comfortable in a five-star hotel, in the hands of trained professionals whose sole aim it is to make you feel good? Or, if you’re going to tour the state and not just stay in one area, have you thought of youth hostels? Maybe you even have family in the area you’d like to visit – careful, though, this may well prove to be an unnecessary stress factor. You should always call ahead and make any necessary reservations early in order to avoid disappointment wherever possible. If you’re planning on going fishing, make sure you remember to get a license. Visitor guides are always useful as they inform you about all ongoing events and places you should be visiting during the particular season you decided to go to California. If you’re lucky, you might even find there is a whale watching event on just while you’re there… or even better, an award ceremony like the Academy Award festival in Hollywood with lots of A-list celebrities. Don’t just count on getting into those kind of parties though…
As you have read, you can do pretty much anything in California. A road trip, skiing, taking in nature, taking in culture, shopping… you just need to know where to be when. So, it’s time to decide which option sounds most appealing to you – why not go for all of them why you’re at it? – and see where and for how long you’d like to stay. Call ahead to book or if you need any more information and the fun can begin… see you in California!
