Introduction.

The great news for anyone looking for information on the LA Computer Fair 2009 - is that it’s not just one event. The LA Computer Fair is held regularly, usually once a month throughout the year, at the fabulous Fairplex Exposition Complex, previously known as the LA County Fairground, at Pomona; in east LA and near to the San Bernardino Freeway. So, whether you’re looking for a neat little netbook or a new Power PC - get yourself down to the LA Computer Fair.

The beginnings of the LA Computer Fair.

Like many other computer fairs up and down the country the LA Computer Fair began when home computing with IBM clone PCs really took off in the 1980s with the advent of the Intel 80286 micro-chips; all a long time ago now and decades before anyone thought of things like the new netbooks. Of course it wasn’t just IBM or even IBM clones that attracted computer enthusiasts to computer fairs back then; other attractions included various other makes of home computers and games machines being made by companies such as Amiga and Sega; not to mention the Apple Macs, of course. However, the introduction of the Intel 80386 micro-chip was what really got the public clamoring for computer fairs and the LA Computer Fair was well established.

Is the LA Computer Fair popular?

All computer fairs are popular and the LA Computer Fair is no exception. At the LA Computer Fair you can buy just about anything to do with home and small business computing hardware and software; as well as other electronic and micro-processor controlled items like: SatNav, Games machines, digital cameras, MP3 players etc. Not to mention the very latest in netbooks and their accessories. However, the real attraction to people attending a computer fair is the prices they can pay. You can expect all the prices you see advertised to be considerably below the High Street retail price and more likely to be at wholesale prices. However, the savings you can make on buying things at a computer fair doesn’t stop there. The traders in the hall will not want to take any of their stock away with them. Just as you’ll be there to buy - they’re there to sell. So, especially as the trading day nears the end, you may well be able to strike a bargain with a trader and get a discount on the ticket price for many of the items on sale.

Is entry to the LA Computer Fair free?

Although many of the traders at the LA Computer Fair might have High Street shops and stores, by selling their wares at a computer fair they can keep their overheads down - giving you the best price possible. However, the hall in which the computer fair is held still needs paying to be hired out, so an entry fee to the LA Computer Fair is charged. This fee is typically $10, but you can get discounts on that by looking for online discount vouchers. Even if you pay the full fee - the savings you can make once inside the fair will more that make it worthwhile. Also, if there are other exhibitions on at the Fairplex Center at the same time, such as the RV show or the Boat show - the fee may well include entry in to those other shows.

What computer hardware will I be likely to see on sale?

At the LA Computer Fair you’ll see for sale all of the latest specifications in desktop PCs, laptops and netbooks. For ‘Power PCs’ this means you’ll find systems with Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processors, with 600GB hard-drives, 4GB of RAM and 24” LCD screens priced below the $1000 mark.
