Scott Warrington
Vice President, University Advancement
In his early days, Scott Warrington sold radio
commercials, but now he is sold on the California
State University (CSU) system where he applies his
skills in advancing universities. With 24 years in
higher education and 14 years of experience in the
CSU, Warrington is the vice president for university
advancement at Cal Poly Pomona. In
each of his previous CSU advancement positions, he
more than doubled annual fundraising totals.
His advancement career began in 1984 with
a position as a development officer where he
launched an annual fund and quadrupled private
support in just two years. With such an impressive
record, Warrington was tapped to act as director
of the Capitol Region: Washington, D.C., Virginia,
Maryland and Delaware. During this time, he
represented the interests of all colleges, campuses
and the Hershey Medical Center associated with the
Pennsylvania State University Statewide System on
behalf of the Campaign for Penn State.
Warrington’s educational background is just as extensive and includes a bachelor’s in art, graphics/painting earned in 1979, graduate studies in art history, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English with a writing option earned in 1982 and 1983, respectively. With an education obtained at the state university in Pennsylvania and extensive advancement experience in state university systems, his unique qualifications have assisted in preparing Cal Poly Pomona to launch its first-ever comprehensive capital campaign.
His special interests include collecting exotic musical instruments and growing bonsai plants, and he often spends his weekends tending his sizeable backyard orchard in Rancho Cucamonga, where he lives with his wife, Kitty. He has three children.
