Ray Wang

Ray Wang joined Cal Poly Pomona as its new dean of the
University Library in September 2009. Wang joins Cal Poly
Pomona by way of Humboldt State, where he has served as
the library’s interim dean since 2007.
At Humboldt, Wang had also served as chair of Information Services in the library and program director and professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures. He helped develop a partnership with Xi’an International Studies University in China and started Humboldt College within the Chinese campus. He chairs the CSU-wide Electronic Access to Information Resources Committee, which examines ways to share information and databases among libraries in the CSU system.
His professional experience also includes: head of the Documents Department at Binghamton University in New York, documents librarian at Northwestern University and translator at the United Nations.
Wang holds a doctorate in education and master’s of library science from Northern Illinois University, a master’s from Beijing University of Foreign Studies and a bachelor’s degree from Xi’an Foreign Languages University.
