Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Senior Vice President & Wealth Advisor
As one of the Top 100 Women Advisors in the country, named by Barron’s, the Dow Jones business and financial weekly, Kathy Tully offers her clients a wealth of knowledge. She is a senior vice president and wealth advisor for Morgan Stanley. For 12 years, she has also been part of Morgan Stanley’s Chairman’s Club, which is comprised of the top 500 advisors in the nation — the top 1 percent of Morgan Stanley advisors.
Tully wants to provide exceptional service by helping her clients make well-educated financial decisions. She and her staff manage more than 1,000 clients and assets totaling more than $450 million. Using her investment skills and knowledge, she hopes to network the university’s goals and objectives with the financial world and assist with evaluating and critiquing possible financial opportunities, as well as monitoring investments and performance.
She also wants to use her NDC service to elevate students’ awareness of career options in the financial world, and perhaps that is a result of one of her early career paths: working as a sales representative for Del Monte Foods. When asked how she got started in financial advising, she replies that she sold green beans for eight years. Tully graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor’s in marketing management in 1976 and an MBA in 1980.
Although her clients come first, she also finds time for community service. She acts as chair of the San Antonio Hospital Foundation Board and is a member of Cal Poly Pomona’s University Educational Trust and the Business Advisory Council. In addition to her top hobby of golf, Tully also enjoys traveling, gourmet food and fine wines. She resides in Upland, California.
