Marie Royce, Senior Director International Affairs for the Global Government and Public Affairs team of Alcatel-Lucent, Americas Region, based in Washington, DC. Alcatel-Lucent has a presence in 130 countries. Royce is involved in international business policy and initiatives in emerging markets.
Marie is a member of the Department of State’s Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy (ACICIP) for the U.S. Department of State, advising the U.S. Coordinator, Ambassador Philip L. Verveer. Royce represented the 1,001 Members of the Telecommunications Industry Association at the US-Colombia information, communications and technology bi-lateral in Bogota. She is an active participant in the US-India working group for TIA. Ms. Royce represented the business community to the US Department of State, US Embassy Economic officers at their Western Hemisphere conference in Puerto Rico. Her speech was on “Telecommunications & Economic Development as Part of US Foreign Policy.” She followed with a speech to the US Embassy Economic Officers Conference for Africa in Johannesburg, Africa as a panel speaker on the subject of broadband. Royce served as a Corporate Delegate to Haiti for the US Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Royce was an invited speaker at the Public Roundtable on Haiti at the US Department of State and her remarks were in Communications Daily. Marie has been the moderator & speaker for the “Connecting the Unconnected” seminar – for several years at the Corporate Council on Africa conference. Royce participated & spoke at the US Department of State, West Africa Conference in Ghana. The IEEE & UN Foundation Conference featured Royce as the moderator with keynote Ken Banks. She recently gave remarks at the Arab Global Forum on “How Investors Should Look at the Middle East Now.”
Prior to joining Lucent, Marie served as a full-time faculty member (Visiting Executive) at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where she was recognized as Distinguished Alumna for the College of Business. She also served on the Board of the Collins College of Hospitality Management, and as Vice President of the Alumni Association…to include President of the College Business Alumni. Royce held senior management positions at Marriott International, Choice Hotels International, and The Procter & Gamble Company. In 1996, she received her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in International Business from Georgetown University, and was recognized “top five” in her class. Royce is a Co-Founder & Partner of GenderStrategy.com LLC. She serves on the following non-profit Boards, - United States Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI), Meridian International, and Alliance Francaise. Marie is married to Cal State Alumnus, Representative Ed Royce, CA-40.
