Joel H. Benkie
Parker Hannifin Corp., Vice President
Thanks to Joel Benkie, Parker Hannifin is a
consistently generous contributor to the university.
As a group vice president for Parker Aerospace, Joel
Benkie is responsible for the branch’s operational and
financial operations in divisions from California to New
York and as far as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Benkie
manages the Fluid Management and Control Systems
Branch of Parker Hannifin Corporation, a consistently
generous contributor to the university, as are the
Benkies. He has 26 years of experience in the aerospace
industry and began his career with Parker in Dublin,
Georgia, as a plant manager.
Benkie shares a vision with his employer. Through its Foundation, Parker has contributed to universities across the United States and provides support to communities and education and has a special interest in engineering. Through his involvement with Cal Poly Pomona, Benkie is interested in attracting and retaining talented students in the colleges of business administration and engineering, as well as providing training in ethics and values.
With a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University, along with postgraduate work at Harvard and the University of Chicago, Benkie has ample experience with educational institutions that will benefit Cal Poly Pomona through his participation in the National Development Council. His knowledge of the university comes from sources very close to him: his son Kyle is a 2007 alumnus, and his son Trevor is a current student. Benkie and his wife, Mary, live in Coto de Caza, an inland community in Orange County, California.
