A brand new curriculum is now in place for most College of Business Administration majors as of fall of 2006. While a couple of small courses have been added, the plan drops overall unit requirements from 194 units to 180 units. It's anticipated that most students on prior graduation plans will likely find advantage in switching to the new graduation plan. These documents are maintained by the Division of Academic Affairs.
One of the first things your advisor will want to know is "what curriculum sheet" are you working with? In the upper right hand corner of any curriculum sheet is the academic year in which the program you're on became effective. These change by the year, and so it's important for you to know the program you're on. You can consider the curriculum sheet a binding agreement between you and the university regarding the requirements that you will have to meet in order to graduate. No new changes or mandates to the curriculum can have an impact on you so long as you retrain the rights to your curriculum contract. It is also true, however, that you may voluntarily switch from an old contract to the one which is in force at the time of your graduation if you choose to do so. By the way, if you ever leave the university for more than a couple of quarters, you may need to reapply to the university upon your return, and you could be subject to new requirements unless you had known to sign a petition before you left-- called a "leave of absence" petition -- which would allow you to resume your existing contract upon return to the university.
If you attend Orientation upon transferring to Cal Poly Pomona you will receive an "evaluation sheet" -- which is nothing more than a "curriculum sheet" market up in order to show how your earned credits have applied against your graduation requirements. Note and try to remember the number in the upper right hand side of the sheet. The curriculum sheet you receive may be a couple of years old by the time you get it -- these are designed to coordinate with the advice you've been getting right along from JC counsellors. If you're a new student to Cal Poly Pomona, you will be enrolled at Cal Poly Pomona on the curriculum sheet in force at the time that you enter the university.
