Mechanical Engineering Department

The Mechanical Engineering department offers students a nationally renowned, ABET accredited, program based on Cal Poly, Pomona's "learn by doing" approach to education. Our priority is teaching undergraduate students. Class size is limited to 30 students with faculty, not teaching assistants, teaching all courses. The faculty bring into the classroom their own industrial experience which provides students with a realistic perspective and understanding of the engineering world. Laboratories are also taught by faculty and geared towards experience in the types of analysis used in real engineering applications. Illustration of the concepts learned in the classroom and familiarization with actual mechanical hardware are also emphasized.

Mission Statement

ME Department Mission Statement: The Mechanical Engineering program culminates in a Bachelors of Science (BSME) degree by providing a quality, well-rounded education that is based on imparting fundamental knowledge and skills in mathematics and pure science as well as engineering science and design. The faculty is dedicated to teaching and to engineering scholarship through dissemination of knowledge, application of knowledge to new problems, generation of new knowledge, and enhancing the methodology of engineering education. The BSME degree is accredited and the ME faculty is committed to maintaining continuous quality improvement that will assure continued accreditation.
