Fault slickensides in marine basalt of the Cretaceous Nicoya Complex,
Costa Rica.
An introduction to the science of geology, including
earth history and geologic time, minerals and rocks, geologic structures, plate
tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes, watersheds and rivers, mountains,
coastlines, deserts, glaciers, and climate change. Four hours of lecture per
week. Corequisite with GSC 141L Principles of Geology laboratory (Optional for
non-majors).
