Translation paper
Pick 30 lines from Fragment A—Knight’s Tale, Miller’s Tale or
Reeve’s Tale—not the General Prologue and not a passage we have done
carefully in class. “Translate” the passage into Modern English. Look
up all unfamiliar words in the glossary (check everything), look at the footnotes
and the notes and explain all literary allusions. Do not use another translation
as a “trot.’ There is no page limit, but 4-5 pp. should be about right.
Be as thorough as possible.
