Environmental Modeling with GIS

The class explores the principles of environmental modeling, including:

  • GIS modeling capabilities and techniques
  • Data requirements and sources for environmental models
  • Scales and dimensions of GIS and environmental models
  • Current practices and applications of environmental modeling in GIS.

This is a project based class. Students will develop GIS modeling projects based on their training in environmental related fields.

The course is a required core course for Geography major option in Environmental Geography and a elective for the GIS minor.

Prerequisite: GEO240 (Introduction to GIS) or equivalent
