Course Descriptions:

BIO 115/115L Basic Biology (3/2) Every quarter  Introduction to living things; covering levels of organization from molecules to ecosystems. Designed as a prerequisite course for majors who take other courses in Biological Sciences. 3 lectures/problem-solving, 2 three-hour laboratories. Arnold, George.

BIO 213 Principles of Evolution (4) Every quarter  Introduction to organic evolution. 4 lectures/problem-solving. Prerequisite: BIO 110 or 115/L, and basic algebra skills. Bryant, Demboski, Troncale.

BIO 303 Genetics (4) Every quarter  Principles of heredity. Introduction to transmission genetics, cytogenetics, molecular genetics and population genetics. 4 lectures/problem-solving. Prerequisite: BIO 110 or 115/115L, and basic algebra skills. Bryant, Campbell, Demboski, Kageyama, Troncale.

BIO 325/325L Principles of Ecology (3/1) Twice a year  Survey of ecological theory and practice, including interactions between organisms and their environment. 3 lectures/problem-solving, 1 three-hour laboratory. 3 one-day weekend field trips.
