For a highly effective and informative advising session, students will need to be as informed about the questions or information they need from advisors. Prepare before the session by completing the following:
Remember from the Liberal Studies Expectations and Learning Outcomes page, Liberal Studies majors should assume direct responsibility for their learning and their advising. Collect the information above (update curriculum sheet, completed advising sheet, list of questions/concerns) and your GWT, CBEST, CSET and other tests scores in a folder. Bring this folder every time you see the advisor so you can keep up-to-date records. A lack of preparation or missing documents or information will only slow the advising process and the advisor may not be able to fully address your needs. Come prepared!
Every Liberal Studies student is assigned a faculty advisor to discuss career or personal concers that relate to academic work. Faculty advisors can also sign petitions for substituting courses. Students are assigned to faculty advisors by the beginning letters of their last names.
