  • those that are only descriptive or narrative
  • The student must take the GWT at least three times before beginning the waiver process.
  • The student must complete at least 6 handwritten essays, each of which must be revised at least once, at the Learning Resource Center (LRC)/University Writing Center (Library, Room 2921) or through the Educational Opportunity Program's (EOP) Tutorial Services.
  • This work must be completed within the three quarters prior to the consideration of the waiver petition by the GWT Waiver Committee, not including the quarter in which the petition is considered.
  • After completion of this work, the student must take the GWT one additional time.
  • If the student still does not earn a passing grade on the GWT, the waiver package must be submitted to Office of Academic Programs Building 98, T7-16, before that quarter's GWT waiver deadline.
OPTION 2: For students who took CPU 401
  • The student must take the GWT at least two times before being eligible for CPU 401
  • If the student does not successfully complete CPU 401 the student could be eligible for the GWT waiver, if, the student completed all work in CPU 401 as specified by the instructor. This work may be submitted by the end of the quarter in which the student was enrolled in CPU 401 as evidence of having met the essay requirement.
  • If a student does not complete all course work any completed essay is still eligible to be used toward a waiver. The student must however complete the remaining essays to be in compliance with Option 1, and submit within the three quarters prior to the consideration of the waiver petition by the GWT Waiver Committee, not including the quarter in which the petition is considered.
