Video Effects Practice
- Video effects are additive --
- the one on top is applied first
- the second on the list second, etc.
- Changing the order of the video effects will change the cumulative effect of the video effects
- You can drag video effects up and down the list to see what happens
- Some video effects allow you to set keyframes that configure the effect over time on your video clip.
To add video effects to an entire video clip
- Select the clip in the timeline
- Click the twistie on the left of the video 1 track in the timeline to open the track
- Open Video Effects and Effect Controls palettes from Window dropdown menu
- Import some video clips into the project.
- Drag a video clip onto the Video 1 track at the beginning of the timeline

- Fine a video effect on the Video Effects Palette
- Drag it onto the video clip in the timeline.
- Expand the video effect in the effects control panel
- Put the timeline marker at the beginning of the video clip
- Click the Keyframe diamond to add a beginning keyframe
- Adjust the various properties of the video effect
- View the effects in the Monitor.
- Continue to move the timeline marker across the clip in the effects control panel, create a new keyframe, and change the properties.
Continue to test video effects
- Drag other movie clips into the timeline
- Experiment with different video effects to improve, distort, or create exciting effects
- To delete video effects from a clip, click on the effect in the effect controls panel and hit the <delete> key.
