Premiere Project Settings
- Premiere is optimized for DVD playback and not for the Web, so have to establish Custom Settings based on one of the presets..
- Then can save the custom settings for reuse later
- Can also develop movie for DV and change settings for web when exporting it, but larger DV movies take longer to render during development.
Create project preset
- Premiere prompts you for settings for new file when you open
it -- same choices when you do File>new>project.
- To create custom settings, choose custom settings tab in New Project Window:
General Settings:
- Editing Mode: Desktop
- Timebase: select 29.97 frames/secont
- Frame Size: 360 or 180 horizontal, 240 or 120 Vertical so that ration is 4:3
- Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
- Fields: No Fields (Progressive Scan) -- what computers do
- Display Format:
30 fps Drop‑Frame Timecode
- Title Save Area & Action Save Area: accept defaults
Audio Settings
- Sample Rate: lowest 32000 Hz
- Display Format: Audio Samples
Video Rendering
- File Format: Video for Windows
- Compressor: Cinepak Codec by Radius - compresses 24-bit video for data
rates suitable for Internet download, CD-ROM playback, or playback
on older computers
Color Depth
- millions of colors gives best reproduction of image
- Frequently set by codec
- Optimize stills uses still images efficiently in sequences -- if same image lasts 2 seconds, only changes frame every second.
Save the Present for future use
- Click Save Preset Button
- Save the project settings as "Video
for Web" to list it as a preset that you can use again.
- Choose location for project and for preview files
- Name the project & click OK
