Filmstrips in Premiere & Photoshop
To export part of movie clip as a filmstrip for editing in Photoshop
- Move the Workspace beginning and ending points at the top of the Timeline so that it only covers bout 4 seconds (which will be 60 frames)
- Will NOT export video effects -- only image
- Do File>Export Movie
- Click the Settings button in the dialog box.
- On the General Settings window, select Type filmstrip (flm) in the dropdown list
- Choose Range Work Area to only export the clip defined by the yellow line above the tracks at the top of the Timeline
- Click OK
Open Photoshop
- Open filmstrip file in PhotoShop
- Cannot alter file type, for example by adding layers
- Can paint on filmstrip
- set opacity less than 100%
- Select part of image -- apply gradient less than 100%
- Can also apply filters to filmstrip --
- Try Filter>Artistic>Drybrush
- Save as file type filmstrip, and import to Premiere to see effect
Import Filmstrip back into Premiere
- use .flm files in movie by dragging into the timeline.
- Try inserting on Video 2 track above part of video you exported
- Lower transparency by dragging rubber band down.
- Also try reversing the two clips to see effect
