Black & White Conversion with adjustment layer

How to do it

• Open colored image in Photoshop.
• Click Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer icon (circle half dark) at bottom of layers palette
• Select Black & White on pop up menu
• Adjust any of the color channels to change the monotone image
• Can also colorize image by clicking Tint checkbox & choosing Hue (color) and saturation.
• Image has black & White adjustment layer, but is still RGB
• Any Modifications (e.g. filters, painting) must be made to original layer, not adjustment layer

Black-and-white Preset filter plus color-dodge blending mode

• This image has a black-and-white filter adjustment layer with the preset green chosen in the preset dropdown list.
• A Color Dodge Blending mode blends the pixels in the background layer with those in the adjustment layer and lightened the image
