Adobe Bridge CS3

Adobe Bridge displays images in camera raw format, if Photoshop or After Effects are installed on computer.

advantages of Bridge CS3

  • Can open two synchronized Bridge windows with same content (Ctrl+Alt+N)
  • Can import files from digital camera into Bridge
  • Even camera raw files display inside Bridge.
  • Rearrange window sizes within Bridge & drag panels to different locations
  • switch between full mode, compact mode, and ultra compact mode so Bridge is readily available
  • View all the files in subfolders within the selected folder, by clicking the Folder icon in the Filter panel (just under the tab that says Filter)
    • filter files by clicking on file types in filters panel
    • sort by any of sort criteria
  • open files in the CS3 application defined for that file type by double-clicking file.
  • Batch rename selected files

Left Workspace

  • Media management tool to browse, categorize, group different files used by other CS3 applications
  • Favorites/Folders panel gives access to media locations
  • Filter panel sorts files by user defined criteria
  • Metadata panel show detailed information about file, and allows user to add information (such as creator name) -- can be done to selected files in batch mode
  • Keywords panel provides keywords that can be attached to individual files and used for sorting & searching

Content window Workspace

  • Provides different views of file contents:
  • Default workspace shows thumbnails of each file
  • Light table (Ctrl+F2) workspace shows larger thumbnails of all the files with none of the left-side panels above
  • File navigator (Ctrl+F3) workspace shows larger thumbnails, but with the favorites & folders panels open on the left of the window
  • Metadata focus (Ctrl+F4) workspace shows files with metadata for each & keyword & metadata panels open on left
  • Horizontal filmstrip (Ctrl+F5) workspace shows preview of selected file in top of right window & filmstrip of files in bottom content area
  • Vertical filmstrip (Ctrl+F6) displays same information with filmstrip on right of window
