American Press Institute (API) The mission of the API is the training and improvement of the news industry and journalism education. Includes full text articles.

AJR (American Journalism Review) From the University of Maryland, includes full text articles from the current and archives of the American Journalism Review. There are also entertaining collections of clichés and copy errors. This site includes directories of organizations, job listings, and much more of interest to journalism.

FAIR: Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting “FAIR, the national media watch group, has been offering well-documented criticism of media bias and censorship....” FAIR offers full text articles about media coverage, organized by subject.

Freedom Forum “The Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan foundation dedicated to free press, free speech and free spirit for all people. The foundation focuses on three priorities: the Newseum, First Amendment freedoms and newsroom diversity.” Content is updated daily.

Freepress: Reform Media, Transform Democracy “Free Press is a national, nonpartisan organization working to reform the media. Through education, organizing and advocacy, we promote diverse and independent media ownership, strong public media, and universal access to communications.”

Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. Non-profit organization from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism, providing a comprehensive resource for investigative journalists since 1975. Promotes journalistic excellence through various training seminars and access to large databases of resources (some of which require membership).

Finding Data on the Internet: A Journalist's Guide Finding Data organizes data by subject, which leads to both numbers and text. This cite includes a link to help understand statistical methods: Statistics Every Writer Should Know

STATS From George Mason University, “STATS monitors the media to expose the abuse of science and statistics before people are misled and public policy is distorted.”

Journalism Resources From the University of Iowa, a comprehensive resource for journalists including cyberjournalism, media law, job resources, and more.

Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas From the University of Texas, the Center's goal is “professional training and outreach program for journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean.” Tabs for English, Spanish, and Portugues. Full text articles and news from throughout the hemisphere.

C-SPAN.org C-SPAN, a private, non-profit website offering a unique look into the operation of the U.S. Congress. Provides access to both live stream and archived recordings of complete and unedited sessions of the House of Representatives and the Senate, committee hearings, White House press conferences, panel discussions, hearings, interviews, and more.

Newswise News releases about scientific, technical, and business subjects form major universities and other institutions. Journalists can register for access to releases not available to the general public.

Power Reporting; Resources for Journalists This comprehensive collection of Internet sites for journalists is also a broad general reference site. A search engine is included.
